Le sport du softball fait partie des Jeux d’été du Canada depuis 1969, mais la compétition masculine n’avais pas été sélectionnée aux Jeux de 2009 et 2013. Ainsi, la compétition masculine retournera au programme en 2017. « Softball Canada est très heureux avec la décision du Conseil des Jeux du Canada d’inclure le softball masculin et féminin au programme des Jeux du Canada de 2017 » a dit Kevin Quinn, Président de Softball Canada. « Ceci est une étape importante dans le développement du softball masculin et nous avons hâte de continuer notre implication dans ces jeux multisports. C’est une excellente journée pour le softball masculin au Canada. » Softball Canada is extremely pleased to announce that the Canada Games Council has selected both men’s and women’s softball for the 2017 Canada Summer Games program. The sport of softball has been part of the Canada Summer Games since 1969, but the men’s competition was not selected for the 2009 and 2013 Games. Thus, the men’s competition will return to the program in 2017. “Softball Canada is extremely pleased with the decision of the Canada Games Council to include both men’s and women’s softball on the 2017 program of the Canada Games” stated Softball Canada President Kevin Quinn. “This is a very important step in the development of men’s softball and we look forward to continuing involvement in these multi-sport games. PLAYYYYYY BAAALLLLLLLL! www.softballquebec.com/fr/apropos/membre.php 2012-02-27 Joyce Bellini au Championnat du monde de softball féminin XIII de l’ISF Joyce Bellini at the ISF XIII Women’s World Softball Championship (Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada est très heureux d’annoncer que la Fédération international de softball a choisi trois arbitres féminins pour représenter le Canada au Championnat du monde féminin XIII de l’ISF, qui aura lieu du 13 au 22 juillet 2012 à Whitehorse, YK. Les trois arbitres canadiennes sont Noreen Atkinson (Georgetown, ON), Joyce Bellini (St-Hubert, QC) et Susan Strafford (Burnaby, C.-B.). « Softball Canada est très heureux d’avoir trois de nos excellentes arbitres qui travailleront au Championnat du monde féminin de l’ISF à Whitehorse en 2012 » a dit Kevin Quinn, président de Softball Canada. « Les trois sont très méritantes de cette tâche et nous sommes certains qu’elles feront un travail exceptionnel à représenter Softball Canada et notre programme des arbitres à cet événement prestigieux. » Noreen Atkinson est membre actuelle du Comité de développement des officiels (CDO) de Softball Canada. Elle a arbitré à des douzaines de championnats provinciaux ainsi que cinq championnats canadiens, servant aussi comme arbitre-en-chef (AEC) ou député arbitre-en-chef (DAEC) à cinq autre championnats canadiens. Noreen a reçu son statut de Niveau V en 2002, et a plus tard obtenu sa certification de l’ISF en 2006. Elle a aussi arbitré au Championnat du monde junior féminin de l’ISF en 2007 à Enschede, aux Pays-Bas. Joyce Bellini est une arbitre d’expérience qui a arbitré à plusieurs championnats provinciaux et canadiens depuis 1981, atteignant son statut de Niveau V en 1996 ainsi que sa certification de l’ISF cette même année. Elle est aussi très impliquée avec son association locale d’arbitres ainsi qu’avec le Montréal Challenge pour plusieurs années. Au niveau international, Joyce a aussi arbitré au Championnat du monde junior féminin de l’ISF en 2007 et les Jeux panaméricains de 1999 à Winnipeg. Susan Strafford possède 30 ans d’expérience en arbitrage, incluant la Coupe du Canada de 1994 à 2008 (féminin et futures) ainsi que le Championnat international ouvert de balle rapide du Canada à Surrey, C.-B. Au niveau national, elle a arbitré à cinq Championnats canadiens ainsi qu’aux Jeux du Canada en 1993. The three Canadian umpires are Noreen Atkinson (Georgetown, ON), Joyce Bellini (St-Hubert, QC) and Susan Strafford (Burnaby, BC). “Softball Canada is very pleased to have three of our very talented officials working the ISF Women's World Championship in Whitehorse in 2012” stated Softball Canada President Kevin Quinn. “All three are very deserving of the assignments and we are certain they will all do an outstanding job of representing Softball Canada and our officiating program at this prestigious event.” Noreen Atkinson is a current member of Softball Canada’s Officiating Development Committee (ODC). She has officiated in dozens of Provincial Championships as well as five Canadian Championships, while also serving as Umpire-in-Chief (UIC) or Deputy Umpire-in-Chief (DUIC) at five other Canadian Championships. Noreen received her Level V status in 2002, and later obtained her ISF certification in 2006. She also officiated at the 2007 ISF Junior Women’s World Championship in Enschede, Netherlands. Joyce Bellini is a long-time umpire who has officiated in numerous Provincial and Canadian Championships since 1981, obtaining her Level V status in 1996 and her ISF certification the very same year. She has also been actively involved with her local umpiring association and with the Montreal International Challenge for many years. At the international level, Joyce also officiated at the 2007 ISF Junior Women’s World Championships and the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg. Susan Strafford has 30 years of umpiring experience, including the Canada Cup from 1994-2008 (Women’s and Futures) as well as the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship in Surrey, BC. At the National level, she umpired in five Canadian Championships as well as the 1993 Canada Summer Games.
